Holiday Fun in Marin & Beyond

Many traditional events have been reinvented this year, and they're offering plenty of opportunities of holiday fun, so take your pick, and mark your calendars. It might even be the beginning of some new traditions.

Nutcracker: San Francisco Ballet’s Nutcracker goes digital this year and is offering a filmed production and interactive journey online from Fri. Nov. 27 through Thu., Dec., 31. In addition to seeing the ballet, you can tour a virtual opera house with activities, learn some steps and visit the Holiday Shop.

Marin Arts & Crafts Festival

 An outdoor festival featuring art, music, bubble art, cotton candy, a raffle and a mask contest, all with physical distancing and masks, takes place in San Rafael’s West End from noon to 5 p.m., Sun., Nov. 29.

Winterfest: Mill Valley’s annual holiday celebration begins on Friday, November 27, with the Winterfest Holiday Hunt, a three-week scavenger contest. Kids and parents can travel around town either by food or by bike and look for silver stars at 40 participating retail shops and restaurants. Take at least eight selfies in front of the businesses, and email the photos as attachments to info@millvalley.org to enter a raffle. Prizes are 20 $50 gift cards and one 40 gift card, which will go to one of the contestants with the most stars. Visit the Enjoy Mill Valley Blog for clues.

A film featuring a tree-lighting, Santa Claus and local arts organizations will screen on the blog beginning on Sunday, December 6.

Gingerbread House Tour

Sausalito’s 14th annual Gingerbread House Competition & Tour begins on Tues., Dec. 1 and runs through New Year’s Eve, Thurs., Dec. 31. Transcendence’s Broadway Holiday: Transcendence Theatre Company’s offers options for this year’s holiday shows. Family-friendly Broadway Holiday at the Drive-In includes a spectacular show on a giant screen, a holiday sing-along and in-car activities for the whole family It takes place just minutes from Marin at Sonoma Raceway, Fri., Dec. 11 through Sun., Dec. 13.
