on Sep 10th, 2008I am from out of town, and called this salon to ask of they could travel to my hotel in Tiburon to do an up-do for a wedding (I am a guest). I was willing to pay up to $400 for this service. I have a hair and makeup "team" in the South Bay where I live, but they are booked for this weekend, September 27. I am having someone from MAC at Nordstrom Corte Madera come do my make-up (travel to my hotel), which was no problem for me to book.
I was told that this Salon, Di Pietro, does not provide this service. However, THEN the woman said, well, maybe, but it would be very expensive to do this. I asked what expensive was and she quoted me $165. I told her that would be fine, and that $165 was not expensive to me. She then asked what the date was and when I told her Sept 27, she stated "Absolutely not, everyone is working that day and no one can TRAVEL to do your hair on a Saturday". I confirmed that she could not help me, and she stated "no, there is nothing she can do to help me".
I then asked, since I am from out-of-town, if she could help me with some names of places that might offer this service, and she said no, there is no one that she knew of that would do this type of service.
Now, I get my hair and make up done on a regular basis for many events. I know of over, oh maybe 15-20 salons in this area that would be THRILLED to have a rich client that they could travel ONE HOUR to their hotel to do an up-do, and be paid around $400 for this service.
The rudeness of this woman, and how she handled my call still leaves me speechless and stunned. For a Salon in the service industry, and one that is recommended on this site for doing up-do's to speak to me in this tone and with such rudeness in beyond comprehension. I am stunned.
I will never use this salon after being treated this way. All I asked for was a service, and when that was not possible, I asked for a referral since I do not know anyone up there. This woman was so unfriendly and unhelpful I am still in shock.
Di Pietros advertises that they offer this service on this website, Telli Marin. I would beg to differ. They just blew the chance to make an easy $400 for an up-do with travel, and lost a potential client if I come to Marin again for an event. |
