My name is Evelyn Foreman. My husband, son and I founded Birth
Presence. Our intention is to make available to whomever wishes
to know, the "secret" of natural birth.
Actually, it is no secret at all...
With birthing comes deep rooted wisdom and incredible strength -
this natural process is coded in our DNA.
So many women are brilliant and intuitive. Sometimes, especially
in birth, we just need to be reminded of this. I am honored to
serve in this capacity and hold this space for you - whether it
is through education, yoga, support or otherwise...
I hope to serve you as you touch the deepest part of who you are
as the divine nature of birth unfolds.
Changes that accompany this stage of life are profound and
transformational. My passion is fueled by knowing that I am
making a diference in this gentle and loving way, and that I am
(finally) doing my "life's work!"
My love for yoga and the practice of presence (the practice of
awareness and mindfulness) off the yoga mat and into my daily
life inspires me to help women carry this consciousness through
to their births. The intensive birth educator and doula
certification process, and learning from each and every couple's
birth has enriched my knowledge of and compassion for the unique
experience of birth. I feel tremendously blessed to have found a
loving way to make a positive difference in the world and can't
imagine a better job!
"We have a secret in our culture,
and it's not that birth is painful. It's that women are
strong." ~ Laura Stavoe Harm
Birth is such a beautiful process and an important rite of
passage. To be able to birth naturally, one must have more than
just a desire - one must be prepared. I encourage all students to
"discover" (uncover) what is most in alignment with who they are
(as a mom, a couple and as a family) and birth in the way (and
the place) that is most "safe" for them.
Among others, I am influenced by the midwifery model of care, The
Bradley Method, Birthing from Within, Dr. Michel Odent, Dr. Sarah
Buckley and Ina May Gaskin. My classes reflect my breadth of
knowledge and my independence as a birth educator. My classes are
not a "one-size-fits-all." Small class sizes offer individual
attention to help you find what works for you.
My husband and I have been teaching Natural Birthing Courses,
Bradley Method Courses (2007). I am also a certified yoga
instructor, Registered Yoga Teacher (2004), specializing in
prenatal/postpartum and restorative yoga. I am also a trained
birth and postpartum doula, DONA (Doulas of North America)
organization (2008).
Personally, I am a 36 year old mother of an almost 2 year old
baby boy, Cayden. My husband Cliff and I had our baby naturally
in our home while we lived in Hawaii several years back. I have a
conscious advantage in that I am still in my childbearing years
and proud to share that we are working on conceiving our second
baby. :) I have found that sharing this awareness of what it
means to stay healthy to foster a healthy pregnancy has helped my
pregnant students tremendously. If you would like to learn more
about us on a personal level, our family website is: www.ForemanOhana.com.
Look forward to seeing
you in class and to celebrating your baby's and your
birth-day!
Evelyn
