Helping you embrace your humanity &
improve the quality of your relationships

AN OVERVIEW OF MY APPROACH

I offer you a caring, compassionate presence, creating a safe space to enter into a therapeutic relationship. In this atmosphere, I help you see the places within yourself you may have been avoiding. These conflicted areas may then be fully felt, understood and ultimately accepted. With an understanding of how unmet needs, boundary violations and past losses have contributed to your current coping strategies, you will have a chance to react differently and practice healthier ways of supporting yourself. These new skills promote increased self-confidence and self-esteem. I also use Art Therapy in groups and workshops to provide a symbol which facilitates the self-discovery process.

MORE ABOUT ART THERAPY

I am fascinated by the use of of symbol and metaphor as a way of liberating self-expression, identifying conflict and accessing inner resources unleashed in the art making process. Art Therapy opens up a space for anyone to symbolically express themselves and connect with their subconscious wisdom and the power to transform their experience. A simple way of entering into this process is through the collage. Absolutely no art experience is necessary.

FAMILY SYSTEMS THEORY

My work with individuals, couples and groups is based on helping you understand the role you played within your family and how the messages you received continue to impact your current relationships. This work enables you to understand how wounds from the past have left you unconsciously attempting to get earlier developmental needs met. When you take responsibility for creating the kind of life you want, you place yourself in a conscious position to embrace a more powerful stance to have your needs met. Here is a valuable online resource about Family Systems Theory.
